Items You May Need to Apply for A Mortgage Loan

Not all items are necessary for each type of loan; check with loan officer.

  • Sales contract with all signatures

  • Copy of MLS sheet showing property taxes

  • Deed to property being purchased (listing real estate agent can provide this to loan officer)

  • Most recent pay stubs; should indicate year-to-date income

  • W-2 forms for previous 2 years

  • Current bank statements

  • Addresses, account numbers, balances and monthly payments for all debts owed (credit cards, student loans, etc. - not utilities, insurance and regular payments)

  • Bank accounts- checking, savings, CD, etc. (name, address, account #, balance)

  • Social Security number for each borrower

  • Address(es) of your residence covering past 3 years

  • Present or previous mortgage lender (name, address, account number) Or: landlord name and addresses for past 3 years

  • Present employer(s) with complete address and telephone numbers

  • Previous employer(s) covering 3 years If you are self-employed, a copy of certified P&L statements for past 2 years

  • If you get income from Social Security or other governmental supplementary income: bring copies of your approved letter from that agency

  • If you receive pension income, please bring a copy of your approval letter from the fund.

  • If you wish to disclose income from child support or alimony, bring appropriate verification

  • If you are required to pay alimony or child support, bring appropriate papers

  • Copy of final executed divorce decree (or separation papers) with all attachments

  • If applying for a VA loan, bring Certificate of Eligibility and DD-214

  • If you recently sold your home, a copy of the HUD settlement statement

  • Information on any other real estate you currently own (such as rental units)

  • Stocks and Bonds (where invested and approx. value)

  • Retirement accounts (IRA, Keough, etc.) location and approx. balances

  • Face Amount of Life Insurance

  • Make, year and estimated value of vehicles (and any loan balances due)

  • Approx. value of personal property (furniture, guns, jewelry, boat, etc.)

  • Cash or check to pay for application fee, appraisal and/or credit report

  • Copy of drivers license If construction loan, bring plans and specs
